Throughout his illustrious career, Prof. John Ågren has been honored with numerous prestigious awards.

“I am very proud and honored to receive this recognition of my professional activity. For me TMS represents a long journey starting 40 years ago in a different time and a different world; no laptops, no smart phones et cetera. TMS has given me the privilege to follow and learn about emerging technologies, like computational materials science, integrated computational materials engineering, and more recently machine learning and additive manufacturing. The work in several committees has allowed me to interact more closely with my TMS colleagues. This award signifies that the contributions of me and my coworkers have been valued.”

Prof. Ågren, a key contributor to the development of Thermo-Calc, has served as our Senior Scientific Adviser since 2017. His notable accomplishments across various fields have earned him recognition, including the TMS William Hume-Rothery Award, the NIMS award, membership in the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, membership in the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE), and the prestigious J. Willard Gibbs Phase Equilibria Award
