This presentation by Andrew Huck from Carnegie Mellon University will showcase the new oxide modules (TCOX) of Thermo-Calc to examine liquid steel-slag-inclusion equilibria. This aids in understanding processing thermodynamics during ladle metallurgy and in other liquid steel processes. Inclusion stability diagrams representing steel-inclusion equilibria at various oxygen levels can be constructed and compared to plant and lab data to further understanding of solution thermodynamics.
