The energy transition requires development and deployment of materials at unprecedented pace. From generation via wind power, solar and nuclear energy to storage methodologies and carbon capture and storage and the circular economy – all involve complex materials – environment challenges and the corrosion behaviour will be pivotal in our ability to scale emergent technologies. With this comes new science questions and opportunities to use electrochemistry and corrosion for materials generation. In this conference we will explore the way corrosion science is critical for a sustainable future.
