Thermo-Calc Software is excited to announce the launch of our new Learning Hub, a digital platform with in-depth lessons to help users learn how to use Thermo-Calc and apply it to real world conditions. The Learning Hub allows you to learn at your own pace and return to lessons as often as you want during your subscription period. All subscriptions to the Learning Hub also include access to monthly live office hours with one of our in-house experts.

Application-based Learning

The Learning Hub is primarily composed of lessons that walk you through real world examples that correlate calculations with microstructures and other metallurgical concepts, spanning a wide range of material types, so users will learn not only how to use the software, but why it is used and how to apply it to real-world problems. Most lessons include two videos – one that reviews the metallurgy and applications of the calculation and another that walks you step-by-step through how to set up the calculation in the software. The Learning Hub also includes introductory lectures to get you started in the software and give you a deeper understanding of the theory.

The lectures in the Learning Hub use real world examples, such as the one shown above. This one uses the Ni-base alloy Nimonic 263 to teach how Thermo-Calc calculations can give insight into the microstructure and potential formation of deleterious phases.

Includes Content for Add-On Modules

The Thermo-Calc Software Learning Hub includes content for the graphical mode of Thermo-Calc, the Diffusion Module (DICTRA), and the Precipitation Module (TC-PRISMA), as well as the TC-Python SDK. Content is being added on a regular basis, so you will always have something new to learn. Plans are also underway to develop content for the Process Metallurgy Module and the Property Model Library, including the Steel Model Library.

Live Office Hours

All subscriptions to the Thermo-Calc Software Learning Hub include access to live online office hours, where participants can ask questions about any of the content on the Learning Hub or about their work with Thermo-Calc. Office hours are currently scheduled monthly and are conducted via video conferencing.

Discounts Available

Discounts are available for academic institutions, as well as for customers who have an active Maintenance and Support Subscription. There are also bulk discounts available when multiple subscriptions are purchased simultaneously. Organizations can transfer licenses between users when someone leaves an organization or is reassigned, so you keep the value of your license even as your team changes.

Live Online Training Still Available

Our popular live online training courses will still be offered several times a year for users who prefer to learn in a classroom setting. Much of the content of the two courses is the same or similar, so users can participate in whichever training better suits their needs.
