Who We Are

Thermo-Calc Software is the global leader in computational materials engineering. For more than 30 years, we have been developing software and databases used to predict and understand materials behavior.

Our flagship product, Thermo-Calc, is trusted by engineers and scientists at more than 2,000 organizations in over 60 countries. It has become the industry standard for thermodynamic and properties simulations, helping teams accelerate materials innovation, reduce development costs, optimize processing conditions, and improve product performance.

Beginning in 2025, we launched Thermo-Calc Solutions, our engineering services division, combining deep materials science and ICME expertise with data‑driven, AI‑enabled methods to help organizations solve complex materials challenges.

Expert Services

For organizations that require advanced technical expertise, we offer Thermo-Calc Solutions, our engineering services division. Thermo-Calc Solutions brings together a team of expert engineers and scientists who leverage Thermo-Calc and other physics-based modeling approaches alongside advanced digital and experimental tools to help customers solve complex materials challenges and accelerate development programs.

Whether you already use Thermo-Calc Software products and want to unlock even greater value, or you require tailored consulting services independent of the software, our specialists deliver high-impact solutions and help you turn data into measurable business results.

How We Can Help

Materials development and process optimization are inherently complex. Without reliable data, engineers face costly trial-and-error testing, uncertain material behavior, and slow development cycles. Thermo-Calc provides accurate simulations, validated data, and expert services that give a deeper understanding of materials and processing conditions, giving teams the confidence to make better decisions in their work.

The data generated by our tools  and provided by our experts enables engineers to make informed materials decisions that help shape a more sustainable future.

KTH University

A Strong History

Thermo-Calc Software was founded in 1997, but our history goes back much further, to the late 1970s at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. There a group of graduate students developed the first version of Thermo-Calc, laying the foundation for what would become a new approach to computational materials engineering.

Built on decades of scientific knowledge, validated models, and real-world experience, our software and services reflect our core values: driven by knowledge, shaped by curiosity, strengthened by trust, and united by teamwork. The result is reliable tools and expert guidance you can depend on to solve today’s most complex materials challenges.
