It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Professor Mats Hillert, one of our time’s greatest scholars in materials science. Mats became a professor in Physical Metallurgy at KTH in 1961 and played a critical role in the development of thermodynamic modeling. His vision laid the foundation for Thermo-Calc Software. He was active as a professor emeritus until his passing.
