How to Update ThermoTech Databases to a New Version
Transferring TT databases from an older version of Thermo-Calc:
- Install Thermo-Calc 2025a.
- Open the Thermo-Calc data directory in the Thermo-Calc installations, both for 2024b and 2025a. The default paths for this are:
Linux and Mac: Default path: /usr/local/thermocalc/<version>/data
Windows: Default path: C:program filesThermo-Calc<version>data
- Copy the TT database folder from 2024b to the database folder of Thermo-Calc 2025a.

How to Install ThermoTech Databases for the First Time
- Download the TT database with the Link provided by Thermo-Calc Software upon purchase.
- Open the Thermo-Calc data directory in the Thermo-Calc installations. The default path for this is:
Linux and Mac: Default path: /usr/local/thermocalc/<version>/data
Windows: Default path: C:program filesThermo-Calc<version>data
- Make a new folder and give it the name of the purchased TT database (e.g. TTNI8, TTTIAL, TTTI3, TTZR1, etc…).
- Place the TT database (e.g. TTNI8setup.TDC, TTTIALsetup.TDC, TTTI3setup.TDC, etc…) into this folder.
- You can verify, that the name you gave the folder is correct by opening the file tc_initd.tdb (also found in the data directory) with a text editor. This is the file Thermo-Calc uses to link the name of a database to its location.
