Thermo-Calc Software have updated the naming system used for our software releases.
Beginning with the spring 2015 release, the software releases will be named after the year of the release rather than the number of releases. The year will then be followed by an “a” for the first release of the year or a “b” for the second release of the year. For example, this upcoming Thermo-Calc release will be known as Thermo-Calc 2015a rather than Thermo-Calc 5.0.
The new naming system is simpler and allows users to quickly determine how new their software is and whether they need an update.
Each software product, such as DICTRA and TC-PRISMA, will also have a subversion number so that users can easily track updates and bug fixes. The subversion numbers can be found within the software under the Help menu > About.
The new system will not change the release cycle, so users can continue to expect releases twice a year, once in the late spring and once in late autumn.
Stay tuned for the 2015a release coming soon!
